My Russian Orloffs are separated into multiple breeding pens consisting of one cock and a handful of hens. Birds are penned together in a way to compliment one another's traits while preserving genetic diversity and trying to create a uniform breed (currently a challenge facing the Russian Orloff breed.) I acquire stock from some of the most prominant members of the Russian Orloff Society of the USA and Canada and only move forward the top birds from each clutch and cull the rest. This method ensures that only the very best birds in terms of conformation to the society's proposed standard, health, and temperament are allowed to breed. Some of my birds I hatch from eggs, others I acquire as chicks, and a few I get as adults. New blood will be introduced periodically to maintain genetic diversity.
As I retire breeders they will be sold, apart from my foundation flock which will live out their lives with me.
